Spain and the United States discussed how to resume dialogue with Honduras



Madrid, 31 ene (EFE). - Secretary of State for Latin America from Spain, Juan Pablo de Laiglesia, meets tomorrow with his U.S. counterpart, Arturo Valenzuela, to discuss the situation in Honduras and the ways of dialogue with the new president,firio Lobo, after his inauguration.



From Laiglesia and Valenzuela will meet at the Palacio de Viana in Madrid five days after coming to power of Lobo, which aims to close the political crisis that engulfed Honduras after the overthrow of former President Manuel Zelaya, the June 28.

The Spanish Government has already shown its willingness for dialogue with Lobo and intends soon to order the return of Spain's ambassador to Honduras, Ignacio Ruperez, who was called to consultations shortly after the coup, according to ministry sources told EFE Foreign Affairs.

The Spanish Executive has yet to recognize officially the Wolf as the new president after his victory in the elections on 29 November and his inauguration on Wednesday.

However, the provision of Wolf to open a national dialogue, Zelaya agreed departure to the Dominican Republic and the end of the stage of the coup Roberto Micheletti softened the stance of the government to normalize relations with Honduras.

USA has already given its explicit support for Wolf and has relied on to occur soon all the conditions for return to Honduras to join the Organization of American States (OAS).

Valenzuela was who represented the White House in the investiture of the Wolf.

The secretary of state for Latin America that Americans value Honduras democratic normality is recovering after reiterating the condemnation of the coup that overthrew Zelaya.

From Laiglesia and Valenzuela will review other current issues in Latin America, as the situation in Venezuela and Cuba.

They will also address preparations for the EU-Latin America summit to be held in Madrid next May during the Spanish presidency of the moment.
