Lenin's slogan again become topical in Russia

Moscow, Jan 30 (EFE). - Russian Communist leader Gennady Zyuganov said today that the slogans of Bolshevik leader Vladimir Lenin, for the rights of workers again become topical in today's Russia.

"Today I feel that the working class re-awakening of dormant,"

said Zyuganov

speaking at a forum of Russian labor collectives, also defined by his party as the "first congress of the workers and peasants' Russia.

Zyuganov was convinced that people are aware that the Communist Party is the "main opposition (and the only one represented in parliament) that defends the rights of workers and ordinary people, and is willing to support it.

"I feel that history repeats itself and that the slogans of Lenin are again today," proclaimed the Communist leader, recalling Bolshevik slogans as "All Power to the Soviets" and "Workers' control in production."

Zyuganov said "Mankind has not invented ideas better than socialism, the people's power and justice" and said the Communist Party will be able to grab the support of working people to defend their rights.

"We are willing to take responsibility for the fate of Russia," said the politician in the congress, held on the outskirts of Moscow, Interfax news agency.

PC-leader accused by the opposition Liberal opportunism and collusion with the Kremlin and United Russia party which controls parliament, called for further protest actions, but sternly warned that they should be exclusively peaceful.

"Some called for here: 'Give us carbines'. But nowadays it is impossible to resolve by force the tasks we set ourselves," said Zyuganov, who gave as example the "failure" of the U.S. military in Iraq and those of NATO in Afghanistan.

For the success of the opposition is needed "a strong team, a powerful protest movement of workers' associations, trade unions, youth, women and veterans and a group of deputies able to initiate laws and organize protest actions," he said.

"If we take the street in Moscow to 200,000, the government will fall, and if we collect to 300,000, our team is at the helm," he said.

The communist forum, attended by 625 delegates from across Russia, adopted a resolution accusing the government of promoting his political "state disintegration, destruction of the economy and the degradation of society," and calls for urgent " socialist modernization. "

"The government, which has demonstrated its total inability to run the country, its economy out of the crisis and respect the Constitution and the rights and freedoms, has no moral authority to continue at the helm of Russia, and should resign," says document.

As one delegate told Interfax, the draft resolution strongly demanded the departure of the executive of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, but the Communist leadership decided to "soften" the final formula.

But its bid to mass protests, the PC refuses to join the demonstrations, always denied by authorities, who usually holds the extra-parliamentary opposition to denounce the liberal democratic regression in Russia.

Thus, the liberal opposition and human rights activists on Sunday called for another protest to celebrate every 31th of the month in defense of Article 31 of the Constitution, which endorses the right to demonstrate, although these concentrations are violently dispersed by police.
