One dead and 54 injured in explosion near the bazaar in Afghanistan

07:08 AM Kabul .- An explosion in a crowded bazaar near a U.S. military convoy killed an Afghan child today and wounded about 50 people, including many children,

in northeastern Afghanistan, authorities reported. Three U.S. soldiers were wounded.

A spokesman for the force commanded by NATO said that according to initial reports, a militant threw a grenade into the middle of the crowd at Kurar province, provincial governor said the soldiers who showed him parts of a manufacturing Grenada Russia, hinting that someone was hiding among the people responsible for the explosion.

Witnesses and at least one government official said that U.S. soldiers fired a grenade, but the police did not confirm these allegations.

The spokesman for the International Security Assistance Force in Security NATO military said the vehicle was stopped in the town of Asadabad, possibly due to a tire burst, where the attack occurred. The spokesman spoke on condition of anonymity because regulations.

Afizullah doctor, local hospital, said 54 Afghans were wounded. Many were children from a nearby school.

The governor of Kunar, Sayed Fazelullah Wahidi said three Americans were wounded, one seriously.

The explosion occurred in a crowded bazaar near a school and a mosque.

Among Afghans, suspicion immediately fell on the Americans. An eyewitness at the bazaar, Abullah Sadat, told The Associated Press by telephone that a soldier had thrown the grenade.
